  • First regional report on mandatory TBE surveillance: 97 cases among residents of the Grand Est region reported between May 2021 and December 2025, predominantly men with a median age of 55.
  • The annual number of cases increased between 2021 and 2025, but this trend should be interpreted with caution due to the recent implementation of the surveillance program.
  • 90 cases were infected within the region (autochthonous).
  • No cases of infection linked to raw milk consumption were identified.
    • 95% of cases were infected in the departments of Alsace or near the Vosges Mountains
    • However, 4 cases were infected in departments further west of the region.
  • In addition, 4 TBE cases residing in other French regions were infected in the Grand Est region.
