Sickle cell disease: helping pregnant women make informed decisions.

Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder that primarily affects populations in sub-Saharan Africa. Mothers are often unfairly stigmatized after giving birth to their children. In France, healthcare professionals work with these women to provide them with medical and psychological support and to give them access to prenatal diagnosis, which may lead to a medical termination of pregnancy.
