In Week 11 (March 14–20, 2022), emergency department visits across all age groups rose slightly (+5%, or +19,331 visits), with a more pronounced increase among 2- to 14-year-olds (+10%, or +8,132 visits, and +4%, or 262 hospitalizations).

Visits for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued to rise for the second consecutive week (5,287 vs. 4,140 visits, or +28% in Week 11 vs. +9% in Week 10 and -13% in Week 9). The share of activity has also risen slightly (1.5% vs. 1.2% in Week 10), while the proportion of hospitalizations following a visit continues to decline (36% vs. 39% in Week 10). The increase applies to all age groups. COVID-19 is the 10th most common condition in emergency departments among children under 2 years of age and the 9th most common among those aged 75 and older. At the regional level, emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in all metropolitan and overseas regions except Mayotte and French Guiana. Since monitoring began on February 24, 2020, 741,817 emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 have been recorded.

Visits for influenza/flu-like illness continue to rise among children (+38%, or +1,182 visits) and adults (+42%, or +736 visits); levels are higher than in previous years among children. Among other seasonal indicators, there has been an increase in visits for ENT conditions (+22%, or +1,283 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds, and moderate increases for pneumonia among those under 15 (+24%, or +71 visits) and those aged 15–74 (+10%, or +141 visits), though levels are in line with or even lower than previous years. Finally, there were increases across all age groups for general malaise (+7%, or +801 visits), isolated fever (+15%, or +1,075 visits), and asthma (+18%, or +576 visits), also at typical levels (except for isolated fever, which remains consistently higher among children).
