Epidemiological Surveillance in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. Update as of June 16, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 23 (W23), viral circulation as measured by biological indicators is on the rise, confirming the trend that began in W22.

  • The other indicators tracked as part of this surveillance are stable or on the rise, with the exception of critical care hospitalizations and in-hospital mortality from COVID-19 cases (excluding non-COVID-related deaths), which are still declining.

  • Cases of infection with the BA.4 and, especially, BA.5 sublineages are rising rapidly in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and across France.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • Emergency departments: activity in emergency departments for conditions potentially related to heat is low.

  • SOS Médecins: The proportion of consultations with SOS Médecins associations for diagnoses of “heatstroke and dehydration” is low.

Pollen

  • The risk of allergies is high in the region, mainly due to grass pollen.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • Since May 1, surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika cases has identified 5 imported cases of dengue in the region: 2 from Cuba, 1 from Costa Rica, 1 from Thailand, and 1 from Réunion.
