Public Health Surveillance in the Midi-Pyrénées Region. Epidemiological Update as of December 31, 2015.
Ebola: End of Transmission in Guinea ConakryOn December 29, 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the end of Ebola virus disease transmission in the Republic of Guinea. Forty-two days have passed since the last confirmed case tested negative for a second time. Guinea is now entering a 90-day period of enhanced surveillance to quickly identify any new cases and thus prevent the spread of the virus. The InVS has therefore published today a new case definition for the surveillance of Ebola virus infections. Guinea-Conakry has been removed from the list of countries in the risk zone, which now includes only Liberia.
Update on winter epidemics in Midi-Pyrénées—The bronchiolitis epidemic continues, and indicators are still rising—Influenza surveillance data (influenza-like illness and virological data) show increased activity in the region, particularly in pediatric emergency room visits at Toulouse University Hospital. However, the epidemic has not yet begun.
