Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of September 24, 2015.

Highlights

  • In week 38, allergy-related activity at the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association remained stable compared to the previous week. The association’s doctors made 28 diagnoses, representing less than 2% of the total diagnoses in week 38. As for the SOS Médecin Mulhouse association, the number of allergy diagnoses was down slightly, with only 8 diagnoses made (representing 1% of the total diagnoses).

  • After a peak the previous week, asthma-related activity at both the SOS Médecins Strasbourg and Mulhouse associations decreased in week 38. Doctors at the Mulhouse association made 17 diagnoses (vs. 26 in week 37), representing 2.2% of total diagnoses. For the Strasbourg association, the number of diagnoses was 9 (vs. 15 in week 37), representing 0.6% of total diagnoses.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk associated with grass pollen is very low in both Alsatian departments.

  • Based on available data, no unusual increase in mortality has been observed in Alsace over the past few weeks. Since the time lag for reporting death data exceeds 7 days, data for week 38 are currently being consolidated.
