Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of August 27, 2015.

Highlights

  • Compared to the previous week, allergy-related activity at the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association declined in week 34, with 23 diagnoses made, representing 2% of its activity. Conversely, an increase was observed at the Mulhouse association, where doctors made 16 allergy diagnoses in week 34, representing 2.9% of activity.

  • Regarding asthma diagnoses, activity was low for both Alsatian associations in week 34, and this condition accounted for less than 0.5% of total diagnoses made by each association.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk associated with grass and nettle pollen is low to very low in both departments of the region.

  • In week 34, the number of weekly diagnoses of heat-related conditions was very low for both SOS Médecins associations. Specifically, 4 diagnoses were recorded for the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association (representing 0.34% of total diagnoses) and none for the Mulhouse association.

  • According to available data, no unusual increase in mortality has been observed in Alsace over the past 4 weeks. Since the time lag for reporting death data exceeds 7 days, data for week 34 is currently being consolidated.
