Dengue

  • Dengue activity is low throughout the country. Since the beginning of the year, 11 cases of dengue have been laboratory-confirmed, with the most recent case reported in late May 2026 (S2026-21).

Chikungunya

Since late January (Week 04), 1,418 cases of chikungunya have been laboratory-confirmed in French Guiana, including 53 in Week 31 (unconsolidated data). The virus is actively circulating in the territory:

  • Western Coast: The number of visits to the CHOG emergency department is decreasing, though remains at a moderate level. The virus is circulating in this sector, which is experiencing an epidemic.
  • Savanas: The number of visits to the CHK emergency department for suspected chikungunya was rising to a high level. The epidemic is continuing and intensifying in this sector.
  • Cayenne Island: Cases of chikungunya are confirmed each week, and in Week 31, three new outbreaks were identified, bringing the total number of active and monitored outbreaks to 10. The sector is in the outbreak phase.
  • Maroni: Cases continue to be laboratory-confirmed in this sector, which is in the sporadic transmission phase.
  • Interior, Eastern Interior, and Oyapock: Since late January, no confirmed cases have been recorded in these areas, which are in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
