Traffic accidents: fears and fatalities.

The road safety measures implemented have undoubtedly contributed to the decline in the number of traffic fatalities on French roads observed over the past two decades. However, in 2000, there were still 121,223 accidents resulting in injuries, causing more than 8,000 deaths and 162,000 injuries. Fear of traffic accidents is, in fact, one of the major health concerns for the French.[article excerpt]
