Martinique: Population Health Status and Health Promotion Practices.

The health status of the population of Martinique presents significant paradoxes. While life expectancy for women (84.6 years) is higher than the French average and the suicide rate is lower than in mainland France, other health and socioeconomic indicators remain a cause for concern: high infant mortality, a high proportion of poor households, and so on. The Public Health Plan currently in place prioritizes interventions targeting risky behaviors, early cancer screening, and the prevention and management of prevalent conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
