2010 Vaccination Coverage Survey
Assessment of BCG and Pneumococcal (Prevenar®) Vaccination Coverage in Paris and Departments 92, 93, and 94, September–December
The objective of this survey was to assess BCG vaccination coverage among children born after the mandatory vaccination requirement was lifted and Prevenar® vaccination coverage among children aged 24 months, and to identify the socioeconomic determinants of vaccination with the latter vaccine. This was a study conducted by Inserm as part of the SIRS (Health, Inequalities, and Social Disparities) cohort, established in 2005 in the Paris metropolitan area by the DS3 team (Research Team on the Social Determinants of Health and Healthcare Utilization), UMRS 707, Inserm. Data collection took place during the winter of 2009–2010. The results were published in 2013.

Assessment of vaccination coverage in Mayotte, May–June
The objective of this survey, conducted by the InVS Unit for the Indian Ocean Region (Cire OI) in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Health Agency, the Mayotte Hospital Center, and the Mayotte Vice-Rectorate, was to estimate vaccination coverage for recommended vaccinations among children and adolescents residing in Mayotte. Data were collected using a cluster sampling method in accordance with WHO guidelines. For children up to 10 years of age, information was collected from health records by an investigator visiting selected households. For adolescents aged 14 to 15, data collection took place at middle schools. Vaccination coverage among children aged 24–59 months for mandatory (DTP) and recommended (pertussis, HepB, BCG) vaccinations was close to 95%, but insufficient for Hib (90.5%) and MMR (85.6%). For children aged 7 to 10 years, vaccination coverage was insufficient (≤82%) except for hepatitis B and BCG, for which coverage rates exceeded 90%. For adolescents in the 14–15 age group, coverage rates were ≤75%. The authors concluded that the low vaccination coverage observed among children aged 7 to 10 and among adolescents necessitated a strengthening of vaccination policy in these age groups. Raising awareness among healthcare professionals about vaccination was also recommended, as well as conducting periodic surveys to better monitor changes in the vaccination status of the population of Mayotte.

Vaccination coverage with seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines and determinants of vaccination, January–April 2010
The main objective of this national survey conducted by the InVS was to measure seasonal and pandemic vaccination coverage during the 2009-2010 flu season, i.e., during the A(H1N1) pandemic. It was a telephone survey conducted on a random sample of the population of metropolitan France. Approximately 3,000 people in two age groups (< 5 years and 5 years or older) were included between January and April 2010. Vaccination coverage with the seasonal influenza vaccine was 62.6% among individuals aged 65 years or older, 35.5% among people under 65 years of age with a chronic condition targeted by the influenza vaccine, and 33.9% among healthcare professionals. Regarding pandemic influenza, coverage rates were 11.1% overall, 12.2% among individuals at risk of severe influenza, 29.8% among healthcare professionals, and 12.8% among pregnant women. This survey confirmed low vaccination coverage for both the seasonal and pandemic vaccines, with the latter figure corroborating data from other sources. The survey also identified certain factors associated with non-vaccination.
