Key Points

  • In week 44 (October 28–November 3, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children under 2 and adults aged 75 and older (up 7% and 10%, respectively, or 436 and 650 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

  • Among indicators of respiratory conditions, an increase in cases was noted among children under 2 years of age in week 44, particularly for bronchiolitis (+17%, or +46 cases), cough (+9%, or +154 cases), as well as pneumonia (+23%, or +9 cases) and acute bronchitis (+15%, or +30 cases). Among adults, an increase in these last two indicators was also observed in those aged 75 and older (respectively +14% and +12%, or +47 and +61 procedures), in addition to asthma attacks (+26%, or +17 procedures) and procedures for upper respiratory tract conditions (+8%, or +928 procedures) among those aged 15–74.

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in procedures:

    • among children and adults for digestive conditions, including vomiting in children under 2 years old (+57%, or +21 procedures), gastroenteritis in those aged 2–14 and those aged 75 and older (respectively +9% and +16%, or +86 and +20 procedures), as well as for dental and ENT disorders among those aged 2–14 and 15–74 (+15%, or +255 procedures);

    • among children, for viral syndrome in children under 2 years of age (+31%, or +33 visits) and allergies in children aged 2–14 (+16%, or 44 visits);

    • among adults, for cases of conjunctivitis (+26%, or +129 procedures) and urinary tract infections (+18%, or +401 procedures), as well as for medical emergencies (+35%, or +15 procedures) and deaths (+23%, or +73 procedures) among those aged 75 and older.

  • Also worth noting is the continued decline in pertussis-related procedures across all age groups.
