Key Points
In Week 22 (May 30–June 5, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children (-10%, or 2,098 fewer visits) and among people aged 75 and older (-8%, or 391 fewer visits), while remaining stable among adults aged 15–74.
After 8 weeks of decline, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups are on the rise again. In total, 685 procedures (vs. 551 procedures in Week 21) were recorded across all age groups (a 24% increase vs. a 12% decrease in Week 21).
This increase applies to adults aged 15 and older (+34%, or +137 procedures). At the regional level, this increase across all age groups was observed in 8 regions: Corsica (+124%, or +26 procedures), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+62%, or +21 procedures), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+61%, or +28 procedures), Hauts-de-France (+53%, or +17 procedures), Île-de-France (+37%, or +53 procedures), Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+36%, or +5 procedures), PACA (+26%, or +33 procedures), and Normandy (+18%, or +7 procedures).
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 346,467 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators:
the decline in activity among children is reflected in most indicators;
there is a resurgence of respiratory conditions among adults: influenza/flu-like syndrome (+17%, or +122 procedures), bronchitis (+15%, or +244 procedures), ENT conditions (+6%, or +463 procedures), asthma attacks (+9% among those aged 15–74) and gastroenteritis among those aged 15–74 (+16%, or +229 procedures);
among those aged 75 and older: there was an increase in procedures, albeit among a small number of cases, for isolated fever (+54%, or +21 procedures) and falls (+16%, or +19 procedures).
Procedures for chickenpox were down across all age groups (-23%, or -202 procedures across all ages).
