Key Points

  • In Week 09 (February 24–March 2, 2025), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits decreased among children under 2 years of age (-9%, or 1,997 visits and -320 hospitalizations) and remained stable compared to the previous week in other age groups.

  • Visits for influenza/flu-like illness continued to decline for the fifth consecutive week across all age groups (-26%, or 2,833 fewer visits). Visits related to other respiratory conditions were stable or declining. However, there was a slight increase in visits for pneumonia among children under 2 years of age (+12%, or +22 visits) and for ENT infections among those aged 75 and older (+9%, or +13 visits).

  • Regarding indicators related to acute digestive conditions, there was a decrease in visits for gastroenteritis among children (-7%, or -252 visits) and among those aged 75 and older (-18%, or -47 visits). Visits for vomiting decreased among children aged 2–14 (-15%, or -160 visits) and increased among those aged 75 and older (+7%, or +24 visits).

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for isolated fever among those aged 75 and older (+9%, or +27 visits) and for trauma among children aged 2–14 (+9%, or +1,400 visits).
