  • Nationally, the number of deaths based on civil registry data (INSEE) increased in weeks 27 and 28 among people over 65 (to be confirmed once data is consolidated).

  • The rise in mortality in week 27 began in Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, then spread in week 28 to a large part of mainland France (except for Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, and Île-de-France).

  • The rise in mortality in week 28, which was more pronounced in the western regions, particularly in Brittany, coincided with the heatwave.
