Vaccination in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Public Health Bulletin, April 2023.
Key Points
Vaccination coverage is relatively high among infants affected by the expansion of mandatory vaccination, but still below the 95% target:
91% for the vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, and hepatitis B at 21 months of age.
91% for the pneumococcal vaccine at 21 months of age.
88% for the meningococcal C vaccine at 21 months of age.
93% by the first dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine at 21 months of age, but only 83% for the second dose at 33 months.
Vaccination coverage of at least one dose against meningococcal B at 8 months is 49%.
Increase in vaccination coverage among children and adolescents not subject to mandatory vaccination:
Significant increase between 2015 and 2022 for the meningococcal C vaccine in children over 2 years of age, but coverage remains insufficient to achieve herd immunity capable of protecting unvaccinated individuals.
Significant increase between 2000 and 2022 for the HPV vaccine among 15-year-old girls, but vaccination coverage remains insufficient to interrupt the circulation of the virus (40% for 1 dose).
Low vaccination coverage against HPV infections among 15-year-old boys (9% for 1 dose).
Insufficient influenza vaccination coverage among people with risk factors for influenza.
Vaccination uptake is among the lowest in mainland France but has been increasing since 2016 (77.5%).
