STI Testing
In 2020, regardless of the STI, a decline in screening rates (for both men and women) was observed in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur as well as nationwide.
Syphilis: In 2020, 199,008 syphilis tests were performed by private-sector laboratories, representing a 7% decrease compared to 2019.
Chlamydia trachomatis infections: In 2020, 212,066 Chlamydia trachomatis tests were performed by private-sector laboratories, representing a 7% decrease compared to 2019.
Gonococcal infections: In 2020, 184,344 tests for gonococcal infections were performed by private-sector laboratories, representing a 5% decrease compared to 2019.
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, STI testing rates remain higher than those observed in France.
CeGIDD Activity Data
The number of consultations at Free Information, Screening, and Diagnostic Centers (CeGIDD) was 52,546 in 2020, involving 24,910 individuals. The number of consultations dropped sharply in 2020 between March and May, with no recovery in the following months.
The most frequently detected infections were gonococcal and Chlamydia trachomatis infections, as well as HIV. Those seeking consultation were primarily young men born in France.
