Key Points

• The epidemiological situation remains stable for tuberculosis and typhoid fever. The incidence of invasive meningococcal C infections also remains stable, despite the vaccination strategy in place since 2010.

• Significant increase in the number of tularemia cases (+114%) and listeriosis cases (+93%) between 2008–2012 and 2013–2017. Moderate increase in Legionnaires’ disease (+16%, mainly in Loire-Atlantique) and foodborne illness outbreaks (+19%).

• The number of viral hepatitis A cases fluctuates annually; notably, in 2017, there were two epidemic episodes occurring particularly among men who have sex with men (linked to a Europe-wide outbreak).

• Following the 2008–2011 measles epidemic in France, few cases were reported in the region until 2017. A resurgence of cases was again observed in the first half of 2018, with 200 cases reported in the region, primarily among unvaccinated individuals.

• Initial analysis of regional data for mesothelioma, a disease that became a notifiable disease in 2012: 227 cases reported over 6 years.
