Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of November 4, 2022.
Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2022, 47 imported cases have been confirmed, including 45 cases of dengue, 15 of which were returning from Cuba. Three imported cases of chikungunya (Indonesia and Chad) and two imported cases of Zika (Thailand) have also been identified.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 118 entomological surveys and 89 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.
Nationwide, from May 1 to November 4, 2022, 249 cases were confirmed:
227 imported dengue cases
20 imported cases of chikungunya
2 imported cases of Zika.
Since the start of the season, 65 locally transmitted cases of dengue have been documented in mainland France, including 12 cases in Occitanie spread across 5 clusters (2 clusters in Haute-Garonne). A summary of locally transmitted cases in mainland France was published this week as a rapid communication in Eurosurveillance.
