BVS No. 11 from the Midi-Pyrénées Regional Health Agency: ISIS study and overview of CO poisoning cases The Midi-Pyrénées Regional Health Agency has just published its 11th Health Watch Bulletin (BVS) on health and the environment, which includes: - an article on the initial results of an epidemiological study conducted following the June 2013 floods in departments 31 and 65 (ISIS study); - an article on the overview of carbon monoxide poisoning cases that occurred in the Midi-Pyrénées region between 2009 and 2013.
Ebola Virus - Epidemiological Update in West Africa as of December 1, 2014As of December 1, the WHO reported a total of 16,907 cases (suspected, probable, and confirmed) and 5,993 deaths in the four affected countries in West Africa (Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Mali). The information in this Epidemiological Update on subnational trends is as of November 26 (the date of the WHO’s latest detailed publication). In Mali, where local transmission has been reported for the past three weeks in the capital, Bamako, the toll stands at 8 cases and 6 deaths. The three most affected countries (Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone) are reporting new cases distributed very unevenly across districts. Among the affected countries, transmission remains most intense in Sierra Leone. In Liberia, the situation has been stable over the past six weeks following the decline observed from mid-September through mid-October. In Guinea, the number of new cases is stable. Transmission in the capitals Monrovia and Freetown remains sustained, while it is declining in Conakry.
