Health Surveillance in Occitanie. Bulletin of January 9, 2025.

Key Points

Acute Respiratory Infections

  • In Week 01, activity related to acute respiratory infections across all age groups continued to rise in primary care and hospitals (a similar trend was observed nationwide). A significant portion of ARI-related activity was linked to consultations for influenza viruses (57% at SOS Médecins and 38% in emergency departments).

Bronchiolitis

  • Occitanie is in its 6th epidemic week and its 2nd week of decline. Thus, the epidemic peak has passed and occurred in week 51 of 2024 (except for SOS Médecins, where peak activity was observed earlier in week 50).

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • The Occitanie region was in S01 during its fourth epidemic week. All indicators had been rising sharply for two weeks. Activity levels are particularly high in hospitals, emergency departments, and among hospitalizations following visits to the emergency department.

COVID-19

  • In week 01, regional indicators were stable with the exception of the wastewater indicator, which had been rising slightly for several weeks.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • In the Occitanie region, the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was decreasing over the previous two weeks. However, use of emergency care (SOS Médecins services and visits/hospitalizations in the Oscour® network’s emergency facilities) remained generally stable over the previous weeks.
