Key Points

COVID-19

  • SOS Médecins: 144 cases recorded for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 (or 370 cases per 10,000 consultations), representing a stable trend compared to Week 47 (147 cases, 333 cases per 10,000 consultations). However, this trend should be interpreted with caution, as data from the SOS Médecins association in Toulouse has not been reported since December 4.

  • Oscour®: increased activity with 510 suspected cases of COVID-19 in week 48 of 2022, or 164 per 10,000 consultations, compared to 366 suspected cases, or 121 per 10,000 consultations, the previous week. The R-value estimated from regional data from the Oscour® network through December 3, 2022, was 1.30 (1.18–1.41), an increase compared to previous weeks.

  • According to data available as of December 7, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., 1,450 COVID-19 cases were currently hospitalized in Occitanie, including 5.9% (N=85) in critical care units (resuscitation, intensive care, and continuous monitoring).

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour®: hospital admissions for a diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remained stable compared to the previous week, at a very high level; hospitalizations increased compared to the previous week. In week 48-2022, 695 visits for this diagnosis in this age group (<2 years) were recorded, representing 27.8% of visits in this age group (704 visits in week 47-2022). Of these visits, 253 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 36.4% for this diagnosis; these hospitalizations for bronchiolitis accounted for 57.1% of all hospitalizations in this age group.

  • SOS Médecins: the number of cases diagnosed with bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age decreased compared to the previous week; this trend should be interpreted with caution, as data from SOS Médecins Toulouse has not been reported since December 4, 2022, inclusive. In week 48 of 2022, 44 procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were recorded, representing 12.9% of the overall activity of SOS Médecins associations in this age group (68 procedures in week 47 of 2022).

Influenza

The Occitanie region entered the pre-epidemic phase in week 48, as evidenced by the increase in virological indicators combined with the persistent rise in syndromic indicators across the entire region.

  • Oscour®: visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness increased by 43% compared to the previous week. In week 48 of 2022, 109 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 0.4% of all visits (76 visits in week 47 of 2022). The hospitalization rate following an emergency department visit for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness was 9.2% (0.1% of hospitalizations).

  • SOS Médecins: procedures for all ages with a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness increased by 51% compared to the previous week. In week 48 of 2022, 335 consultations for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 8.6% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (222 consultations in week 47 of 2022). However, this trend should be interpreted with caution, given that data from the SOS Médecins association in Toulouse has not been reported since December 4 inclusive.

  • According to the Sentinelles Network, the incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 205 per 100,000 [118; 292], an increase of 58% compared to the previous week (130 per 100,000).
