Health Surveillance in Normandy. Bulletin of January 22, 2025.

Key Points

Influenza and Flu-Like Illness

  • The flu outbreak continues in Normandy.

  • Flu circulation remains widespread and intense, with varying trends across age groups.

  • Hospital and outpatient indicators are rising among children and declining among those over 65.

  • Strains A (H1N1), A (H3N2), and B/Victoria are circulating simultaneously and may therefore lead to different patterns and affect different populations.

  • The impact of the flu on deaths remains significant, even though the proportion of deaths with a flu-related cause among electronically certified deaths has decreased slightly over the past two weeks.

Bronchiolitis

  • Normandy has been in the post-epidemic phase for two weeks.

  • All indicators are stable (virology and physical therapy) or decreasing (in hospitals, SOS Médecins) and are trending toward pre-epidemic baseline levels.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Activity in the community (SOS Médecins) for acute gastroenteritis is stable compared to the previous week, at a moderate level across all age groups, and at a high level among those under 15, with no impact on emergency department activity at this stage.
