Health Monitoring in Normandy. Update as of January 3, 2024.
Key Points
Acute Gastroenteritis
The number of visits for acute gastroenteritis in emergency departments and private practice (SOS Médecins) is rising sharply, confirming the usual seasonal increase in acute gastroenteritis during this period.
The number of visits for foodborne illness is also on the rise.
A significant number of foodborne illnesses linked to oyster consumption have also been reported to the Regional Health Agencies (ARS), which may partly explain these increases.
Pneumonia
The number of emergency department visits for pneumonia among children under 15 is increasing.
Visits to private practices (SOS Médecins) are decreasing but remain at high levels.
Flu
Normandy has been in the pre-epidemic phase since week 51.
Indicators continue to rise in emergency departments while they are declining in private practice (SOS Médecins).
The AH1N1 subtype is the most common among hospital samples.
Bronchiolitis
All indicators continue to decline, but levels remain high nonetheless.
COVID-19
The decline in emergency department visit rates and procedures at SOS Médecins continues.
The number of positive laboratory test results is also decreasing.
