Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 31, the spread of SARS-CoV-2 continued to slow in Normandy. A significant decrease in indicators was observed, though they remained at high levels.

  • The incidence rate had dropped sharply to 233 per 100,000 inhabitants (-34% compared to Week 30). The testing rate and positivity rate were also decreasing, by -28% and -2.1 percentage points, respectively. The decline in the incidence rate was observed in all departments and across all age groups.

  • In the pre-hospital setting, the number of calls handled by SOS Médecins and the number of emergency room visits were down. The number of new hospital admissions across all departments, as well as in critical care units, showed a significant decrease. The number of deaths remained stable in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Monkeypox

  • As of August 9, 2022, 2,601 confirmed cases of monkeypox had been reported in France, including 28 cases in Normandy.
