Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of May 7, 2014.

Key Findings

  • The latest virological data from the Strasbourg University Hospital indicate a sharp decline in the number of respiratory samples testing positive for respiratory viruses. Data from the coming weeks will help confirm this trend.

  • Activity at SOS Médecins clinics for gastroenteritis remained stable in weeks 17 and 18 and is close to its baseline level.

  • Activity related to allergies has been decreasing since late March–early April. Over the past two weeks, it has accounted for 2% of each association’s total activity.

  • Activity related to asthma has been decreasing since weeks 13–14 (March 24 to April 6); it has accounted for between 1% and 2% of each association’s total activity over the past two weeks.

  • The decline in these last two indicators is likely linked to the gradual end of the tree pollen season, as indicated by the national aerobiological monitoring network in its latest pollen and allergy bulletin.
