Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of May 22, 2014.

Key Findings

  • The latest virological data from the Strasbourg University Hospital confirm the decline in the circulation of respiratory viruses observed in recent weeks. Rhinoviruses and enteroviruses are the most commonly identified viruses among samples testing positive for respiratory viruses.

  • Activity at SOS Médecins clinics for gastroenteritis remained low and stable in weeks 19 and 20.

  • An increase in the number of allergy cases was observed in week 19 for the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association but not for the one in Mulhouse. The proportion of activity related to this condition remains within the fluctuations typically observed in the spring.

  • Asthma-related activity accounted for less than 2% of each association’s total activity over the past two weeks. However, an increase was noted compared to the previous bulletin: it is more pronounced for the Strasbourg association than for the Mulhouse association.

  • The National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA) indicates in its latest bulletin that Alsace is at high risk for grass pollen allergies.
