Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of June 6, 2013.

Key Highlights

  • Over the past few weeks, there has been a confirmed decline in the proportion of cases related to gastroenteritis and diarrhea within the total caseload of the SOS Médecins associations in Alsace.

  • Since week 16, the number of asthma diagnoses made by the SOS Médecins association in Strasbourg has remained high, which is not the case for the association in Mulhouse.

  • Regarding allergies, the number of diagnoses has decreased over the past few weeks for both associations in the region. This trend is more pronounced for the Strasbourg association.

  • According to the alert map from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), Alsace is at low allergy risk for the period from May 31 to June 7, 2013. However, with the arrival of sunny weather this week, vigilance must therefore be maintained.

  • Regarding the surveillance of emerging respiratory viruses, no cases have been confirmed as of today in the Alsace region. However, two cases of MERS-CoV were confirmed in France in early May.
