Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of August 1, 2013.

Key Findings

  • Over the past two weeks, the activities of SOS Médecins associations in the region have remained stable across all age groups, with no unusual increases observed.

  • In weeks 29 and 30, a notable increase—though within the expected range given the high temperatures—in the number of diagnoses of heat-related conditions was observed for both SOS Médecins associations in the region. In week 30, these conditions accounted for 4% of the activity at the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association and 6.2% of the activity at the Mulhouse association.

  • The number of asthma and allergy diagnoses remains within the usual seasonal fluctuations.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), both departments in the Alsace region currently have a low allergy risk.

  • According to available INSEE data, no unusual increase in mortality has been observed in the Alsace region.
