COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Grand Est Region as of April 15, 2021
Key Points
In week 14 of 2021, the first week of the third lockdown, the number of new cases saw an initial decrease compared to the previous week (16,347 new cases versus 17,651 in week 13 of 2021). This slight decrease occurred as the number of people tested dropped sharply (226,797 people in week 14 of 2021 compared to 324,067 in week 13 of 2021), due to i) the closure of medical laboratories on Monday, April 5 (Easter Monday) and ii) the closure of schools during week 14-21 and the suspension of systematic testing conducted by the Ministry of Education (the decline in testing activity is thus very sharp among those aged 0–9 and 10–19).
