Public Health Surveillance in the Centre Region. Epidemiological Update as of August 17, 2012

Key Points

Regional Alerts: - Thursday, August 16: Cher and Indre were placed under a yellow alert on the Météo-France map. - Friday, August 17: Cher and Indre were upgraded to an orange alert. Météo-France and the InVS recommended upgrading the heatwave plan to Miga. A significant warming trend is spreading across the Centre region, with a general rise in maximum temperatures—averaging around 5 degrees—that is expected to last until early next week. A noticeable increase in minimum temperatures is also being observed. - Poor air quality throughout the region is a factor that could potentially exacerbate the effects of the heatwave. Morbidity indicators currently show no health impact from the heat.

National Alerts: - Heat Wave and Health Alert System: Météo-France and the InVS recommend raising the National Heat Wave Plan to Miga level for 15 departments and maintaining the Miga level for 6 departments. These 21 departments are placed under an orange alert on the Météo-France map effective Friday, August 17, at 4:00 p.m.- Due to an indefinite interruption in data transmission from SOS Médecins, data is not available for week 32.
