Data on reported cases of tuberculosis (TB) in the Centre-Val de Loire region
The number of TB cases in 2017 (169) was higher than in 2016 (161) but lower than in 2015 (180).
The TB case notification rate, all forms combined, was 6.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2017, a slight increase compared to 2016 (6.2) and a slight decrease compared to 2015 (7.0).
The highest reported rates were observed in Eure-et-Loir and Loiret, with 9.9 and 9.0 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively, both higher than the national average (7.5).
The TB case reporting rate was nearly twice as high among men as among women (8.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants versus 4.8).
Nearly one-third of TB cases were aged 25 to 44, 24% were over 65, and less than 1% were children under 5.
Since 2015, there has been a marked increase in TB cases among people born abroad (+32.9%) and those who arrived in France recently (< 2 years) (+58%).
Increase in TB cases among people experiencing homelessness (6 cases compared to 1 in 2016).
Data on treatment outcomes for reported active TB cases during the 2010–2014 period
The percentage of cases reported in the 2010–2014 period with treatment completed 12 months after the TB diagnosis was 83% and nearly reached the WHO target of 85%.
The percentage of TB cases reported during the 2010–2014 period that were lost to follow-up was 4%.
