Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of July 9, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

Increase in the incidence rate and positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate rose from 15.2 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 25 to 20.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 26. The positivity rate rose from 0.8% in Week 25 to 1.1% in Week 26. These indicators are on the rise across all departments (except Finistère, which remains stable) and are rising sharply among those aged 16–25 and more moderately among those aged 26–35. The proportion of
suspected Alpha variant (so-called British) cases is declining sharply, while the proportion of suspected Delta variant (so-called Indian) cases is rising sharply. 44% of screened positive tests indicated the presence of the L452R mutation, associated, among other things, with the Delta variant. Many cases of L452R have been identified in Brittany. Vaccination coverage stands at 58.4% for a single dose and 39.5% for a full course.

High temperatures, heat wave

Brittany has been on green alert since the start of surveillance. Activity is low, close to levels seen in previous years, excluding periods of extreme heat.

Acute gastroenteritis

Moderate activity within seasonal averages. Increase in SOS Médecins indicators and hospital emergency room visits compared to the previous week.
