Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of July 27, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

Increase in the incidence rate and positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate rose from 49.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 28 (55.8 when adjusted for July 14) to 92.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 29. The positivity rate rose from 2.1% in Week 28 to 2.8% in Week 29. These indicators are on the rise across all departments and have increased significantly among those aged 15–34. An increase in incidence rates is observed in major cities and tourist destinations. More than 90% of screenings identify the L452R variant, and this percentage is relatively consistent across the region. Many clusters associated with vacation destinations and private events have been identified in Brittany. Vaccination coverage stands at 66.3% for a single dose and 55.0% for a full course.

Heat Wave

Finistère and Morbihan were placed under a yellow heat wave alert by Météo-France from July 19 to 22, 2021. Outside of this period, Brittany remained under a green heat wave alert. An increase in healthcare utilization for heat-related conditions was observed in week 29, consistent with the rise in temperatures during the same period.
