Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of August 3, 2021

Key Points

COVID-19

Increase in the incidence rate and decrease in the positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate rose from 92.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 29 to 101.5 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 30. The positivity rate fell from 2.8% in Week 29 to 2.6% in Week 30. The incidence rate is rising across all departments (except Finistère, where it is falling) and remains high among those aged 15–34. More than 90% of screenings identify the L452R variant, and this percentage is relatively consistent across the region. Many clusters associated with vacation destinations and private events have been identified in Brittany. Vaccination coverage stands at 69.2% for a single dose and 58.2% for a full course.

Heat-related illness

Finistère and Morbihan were placed under a yellow heat wave alert by Météo-France from July 19 to 22, 2021. Outside of this period, Brittany remained under a green heat wave alert. An increase in healthcare utilization for heat-related illnesses was observed in week 30.
