Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of August 6, 2021

Key Points

COVID-19

  • At the regional level, we are seeing an increase in the incidence rate and testing rate, a stable positivity rate, and an increase in hospital indicators (new hospitalizations and admissions to critical care units). At the departmental level: the threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants has been exceeded in all departments except Nièvre; the threshold of 100 per 100,000 inhabitants has been exceeded in four departments (Côte d’Or, Doubs, Jura, and Territoire de Belfort).

  • Two aspects must be taken into account in the current situation: on the one hand, a majority of asymptomatic people are getting tested—possibly due to the requirement for a “Health Pass” for recreational and cultural venues—and on the other hand, the positivity rate among symptomatic individuals is rising sharply, and they account for half of all positive cases.

  • With the resurgence of the epidemic, it is essential to maintain a high level of adherence to individual prevention measures, testing, and isolation of cases and contacts. It is also essential to encourage vaccination among the entire eligible population.
