Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of August 4, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • The decline in SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté is confirmed by falling incidence and positivity rates across all departments and age groups.

  • The Omicron variant is the only one circulating in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (100% of RT-PCR samples sequenced in S29).

  • The latest available screening data suggest that the BA.4/BA.5 sublineages are the overwhelming majority (86%) in the region, except in the west in Yonne and Nièvre (58–76%). Interpretation is limited by the small number of sequenced samples available for recent weeks.

  • Regarding hospital activity, the number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to intensive care are decreasing. The decline in the number of deaths in hospitals that began between weeks 28 and 29 continues this week (27 vs. 31).

  • Excess mortality (all causes and all ages) was observed in the region during week 29.

Heatwave Monitoring

  • No unusual increase in activity at emergency departments or SOS Médecins associations in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

  • Indicators of heat-related illnesses remain at low levels.
