COVID-19

  • Three moderate-intensity waves of COVID-19 (the 7th through 9th waves) occurred during the second half of 2022, resulting in a significant impact on the community, hospitals, and long-term care facilities

  • >1 million confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection and more than 20,000 hospitalizations for/with COVID-19 in the second half of 2022 in the region

Influenza

  • A very prolonged influenza epidemic with dual circulation of influenza A viruses starting in the fall of 2022, followed by influenza B viruses in early 2023

  • Second epidemic peak at the end of winter in the region

Bronchiolitis (<2 years)

  • Epidemic period comparable to 2021–2022 (peak from November 21 to 27, 2022)

  • Exceptionally high intensity, exceeding all previous years in the region since 2010
