COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of September 10, 2021
Key Points
Since the peak of the epidemic (week 2021-31), viral circulation has been declining, although hospitals remain under significant strain. Martinique remains in Phase 3, “epidemic.”
Positivity and incidence rates were declining, with testing rates also decreasing. The 15–44 age group recorded the highest incidence rate, particularly among those aged 20–39.
The effective reproduction number (Rt) calculated from SI-DEP data for samples collected between August 29 and September 4 was 0.65 [0.62–0.68], significantly below 1, indicating a decline in the epidemic.
In hospitals, the situation remains critical, with high COVID-19 admission and mortality rates.
Excess mortality, across all ages and causes of death, remained high, as it has since week 2021-30.
