COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of October 1, 2021
Key Points
The decline in the epidemic continued for the sixth consecutive week, leading to reduced pressure on hospitals. Martinique remains in Phase 3, “epidemic.”
Positivity and incidence rates were declining, while testing rates increased slightly. The age group with the highest incidence remained 15–44 years old, particularly those aged 20–39. The effective reproduction number (Rt), calculated from SI-DEP data
for samples collected between September 19 and 25, was 0.69 [0.64–0.75], significantly below 1, indicating a decline in the epidemic.
At the hospital level, the number of admissions across all departments and to intensive care units was decreasing, as was the number of deaths. The Delta variant has been the dominant strain since week 2021-31.
