COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of June 23, 2022
Key Points
All virological indicators were declining in Week 24. However, viral circulation remains active in the region.
This decline follows the resurgence of the epidemic observed since Week 18, resulting from the Easter holidays and the succession of public holidays and festivities
organized during that period.
The incidence rate and positivity rate decreased by 23% and 2.6 percentage points, respectively; the testing rate also decreased by 18%. The 30–39 age group continued to have the highest incidence rate. The 7-day rolling effective R (from June 12 to 18) continued to decline in S24. For the first time since S15, it is significantly below 1 (0.90 – 95% CI [0.88–0.92]).
Furthermore, the proportion of the L452R mutation appears to be stabilizing. It was found in 78.3% of screened samples in week 24, compared to 75.9% in week 23.
At the hospital level, the number of new ICU admissions increased in Week 24.
