COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of December 2, 2021

Key points

Guadeloupe

Data for week 47 should be interpreted with great caution due to the major social unrest that has been affecting Guadeloupe for more than two weeks. Since access to outpatient care (doctors, pharmacists, laboratories, etc.) has been significantly impacted, the data transmitted by surveillance systems may erroneously indicate a decrease in the monitored indicators, whereas in reality this decline is more likely due to reduced access to care. As no social unrest is currently taking place in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, data is presented for the Northern Islands.

Saint Martin

Against a backdrop of reduced testing, the incidence rate was also declining, and the positivity rate remained at a low and stable level. At the hospital level, no emergency room visits were recorded, and only one hospitalization for COVID-19 was admitted.

Saint Barthélemy

SARS-CoV-2 circulation was low in Saint Barthélemy. Two positive cases were detected among residents of this territory last week, and no new hospital admissions were recorded.
