Public Health France 2019 Health Barometer: Launch of the Survey

Santé publique France is launching the 11th edition of its "Health Barometer," which will be conducted among a representative sample of 10,000 people aged 18 to 85. This telephone survey is being carried out by the polling firm Ipsos. It began in early January and will run for six months.

The Santé publique France Health Barometers are large-scale periodic surveys designed to better understand the health-related opinions and behaviors of the population residing in France. Their objective is to guide public health prevention and information policies. This is one of the largest national surveys, having covered more than twenty-five topics since 1992, such as smoking, nutrition, well-being, sleep, living conditions, and vaccination practices...

Participants are contacted via randomly generated phone numbers and invited to complete a questionnaire in 2019 that takes an average of 20 minutes. Only one person per household is interviewed.

To ensure that this study accurately reflects the attitudes and behaviors of people living in France and to enable the updating of prevalence data, it is very important that every selected individual agrees to participate. Therefore, Santé publique France would like to thank in advance all those contacted by Ipsos as part of this survey for their cooperation and the time they agree to devote to the interviewers. The data obtained will be invaluable for research and prevention.

The initial results of this study will be released in 2020.
