COVID-19: An Update on the Current Situation in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon

The archipelago of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, which had previously been spared from the spread of COVID-19, recorded a positive case of the virus on November 13, 2021. The Territorial Health Administration conducted investigations to trace the chain of transmission and identify close contacts and positive cases.

As of November 30, the archipelago had 46 active cases of COVID-19, leading to testing of more than 500 people.

The Health Reserve: Immediate Support Through the Deployment of a Team of Reservists

Faced with this situation, the Territorial Health Administration, in agreement with the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, decided to request support from the Health Reserve to organize and expand the capacity of the contact tracing unit, with the aim of maintaining a high level of contact tracing amid active viral circulation.

In less than 48 hours, the Health Reserve assembled a team of five reserve nurses, all trained and skilled in contact tracing. The reservists departed on Thursday, December 2, for a mission expected to last one month but which may be extended depending on how the situation evolves.
