WHO European Network of Healthy Cities: 1,300 members in 29 countries.

Following the signing of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion in 1986, the European Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) established new partnerships, particularly to address the needs of the most vulnerable populations. Seeking to go beyond the work already initiated with healthcare professionals, the WHO created a network bringing together elected officials and municipal staff; the goal is to implement local policies that promote a positive and broad—and thus comprehensive—approach to health and combat health inequalities.
