Evaluation is still a relatively new practice that is still taking shape. The diversity of approaches, reference models, and stakeholders, combined with the variety of methods used, results in a profusion of terms that are sometimes precise and widely accepted, and at other times ambiguous and open to differing interpretations. It is therefore essential to clarify the concepts underlying words whose meaning is only apparent, often misleading, and sometimes the source of misunderstandings.
