When alcohol companies' marketing shapes behavior and public policy
Health behaviors are strongly influenced by the business practices of the alcohol industry, which operates on multiple levels. Its lobbying efforts with public authorities are effective in undermining any measures aimed at reducing consumption of its products, as demonstrated by the setbacks suffered by the Évin Law. The marketing of these multinational companies is also a powerful tool for encouraging the purchase of alcoholic beverages, which come in attractive packaging and are available everywhere and at all hours.
