Health Recommendations for Travelers, 2015 - Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin, 2015, No. 21-22
These recommendations, developed by the Committee on Travel-Related and Imported Diseases, were adopted by the High Council for Public Health. They apply to all travelers, regardless of their destination or travel conditions. They emphasize the importance—in preventing travel-related illnesses—of vaccination, malaria chemoprophylaxis, protection against mosquitoes and other arthropods, and food safety and general hygiene measures (handwashing, sun protection, condoms, etc.). This year, the HCSP updated the French recommendations for malaria prevention to better tailor chemoprophylaxis guidelines to the regions visited (rather than countries) and to align with international recommendations. These recommendations take into account, in particular, the 2015 Vaccination Schedule, data from the National Reference Center for Malaria, the National Reference Center for Arboviruses, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance, and the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM).
