Key Points 

In Week 29 (July 13–19, 2026), the number of emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups. The number of hospitalizations following an emergency department visit decreased among children under 15 years of age (-8%, or 630 fewer hospitalizations).  

As the heat wave gradually subsided over the past week, emergency department visits for hyperthermia/heatstroke and dehydration decreased across all age groups compared to the previous week (down 38%, or 431 visits, and -7%, or 77 visits). However, the numbers remained higher than in previous years.

Compared to the previous week, there was an increase in emergency room visits for: 

• trauma (+8%, or +1,334 visits) among children,
• ENT conditions among 2- to 14-year-olds and adults (+8%, or +703 visits),
• skin and subcutaneous infections in all age groups (+10%, or +739 visits) and chickenpox in all age groups (+24%, or +110 visits),
• conjunctivitis among adults (+22%, or +118 visits),
• acute gastrointestinal conditions: gastroenteritis (+11%, or +204 visits) among adults and specific abdominal pain among children under 2 years of age (+19%, or +100 visits) and adults (+6%, or +527 visits). 

In addition, among those aged 75 and older, there was also an increase in emergency department visits for pneumonia (+8%, or +151 visits), urinary tract infections (+8%, or +147 visits), stroke (+7%, or 103 more visits), and heart failure (+6%, or 66 more visits).
