Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, September 14, 2021
Key Points
At the national level, a moderate excess of all-cause deaths was observed in week 29 (July 19–25), as well as in weeks 32 through 34 (August 9–29, 2021). This excess specifically concerns adults aged 65–84. Nationwide figures are at the upper limit of the usual fluctuation range in Week 35 (August 30–September 5).
In mainland France, excess mortality was moderate in Occitanie and PACA between weeks 32 and 35, as well as in Corsica in week 34.
In Martinique and Guadeloupe, the number of deaths peaked in week 33 and began to decline in weeks 34 and 35, although figures for week 35 remain very high.
